Solution(s):

 Confirm that the power is ON for both the computer and the instrument. 

Check the serial port selection in the BBRw Setup menu using the following procedure: 

1.

 

Choose 

Setup

 

from the BBRw Main Menu and click on 

Instrument Setup

2.

 

Select the 

Port

 

tab from the property sheet. 

3.

 

Check the list box setting for the communication port and verify that the serial connection at the 
back of the computer matches the setting indicated. 

4.

 

Change settings if necessary and save changes by clicking 

OK

 from the 

Port

 

dialog box. 

5.

 

Check the RS-232 cable connections and confirm that they are secure.  

If all connections are secure and communication problems are still occurring, try replacing the       
RS-232 cable. 

If replacing the cable fails to restore communications, check/change the Windows Terminal/ 
HyperTerminal settings, if possible on your computer, per the procedure below: 

1.

from the BBRw Main Menu and click 

Instrument Setup

2.

 

Select the 

Port

 

tab from the property sheet. 

3.

 

Choose NONE

 

from the COM

 

Port list box. 

4.

 

Click 

OK

5.

 

Click on the Windows Start button and select 

Programs/Accessories/Terminal

 

(or 

HyperTerminal

). Other terminal programs, such as TerraTirm can be used as well.

Select the 

Terminal

HyperTerminal

) application icon. 

7.

 

Select 

Properties

 

from the 

Terminal

HyperTerminal

) File menu.

Scroll through the tab options until you locate the 

Configure

 

option.

Click on

and change the port settings to the following:

9600 Baud 

b.
