TE-BBR Instruction and Operation Manual

Type 

A

 into the command prompt and press 

R

 or 

Ctrl

 key. Instrument should respond with an 

OK

 message. If you receive an 

OK

 response, the port is functional. If you do not, there may be a 

problem with the computer serial port. 

Restore the COM Setting 

To restore the BBRw COM port settings, complete the following 

procedure. 

1.

 

Close the Terminal (HyperTerminal) program and return to the BBRw application

.

 

2.

 

Choose 

Setup

 

from the BBRw Main Menu and click 

Instrument Setup

. 

3.

 

Select the 

Port

 

tab from the property sheet. 

4.

 

Restore the correct COM

 

port setting. 

If the above diagnostic procedures fail to provide information necessary to restore communications, 
there may be an internal problem with the instrument. Perform the following procedure and 
contact Cannon Instrument Company with the results. 

1.

 

Locate the TE-BBR test cable (shipped with the instrument) with the phono plug on one end and 
two alligator clips at the other end. 

2.

 

Obtain a voltmeter and adjust to a scale of 10 volts DC or the next higher scale setting. 

3.

 

On the rear of the Control Unit locate the RCA phono jacks labeled Force and Deflection. 

4.

 

Plug the test cable into the Deflection jack and connect the alligator clips to the DC voltmeter 
(red-positive; black-negative). 

5.

 

Record the voltage as Deflection voltage. 

6.

 

Using the ZERO pressure regulator, move the shaft up and down while viewing the voltmeter. 
Record any changes to the voltage as the shaft traverses the full range. 

If the voltage levels changed with the shaft position, continue with step 7. 

7.

 

Measure the voltage change: 

a.

 

Place the gage block on the left side of the Load Platform and set the load platform screw 
on the red level of the gage block. 

b.

 

Record the voltage as the RED LEVEL VOLTAGE. 

c.

 

Set the load platform screw on the blue level of the gage block. 

d.

 

Record the voltage as the BLUE LEVEL VOLTAGE. 

e.

 

Move the phono plug to the jack labeled Force.
