11 Battery sets: Handling and Disposal
11.1 General
Only re-chargeable batteries may be used in the
VIBROTEST 60 for power. A limiter circuit which is active in
case of excessive charging current or a short-circuit is built into
the encapsulation housing for the batteries. If the battery set is
fully charged, the battery set capacity guarantees a typical
operating time of at least 3 hours.
The battery set is housed in a suitable compartment within the
handle of the VIBROTEST 60. The electrical connection
between the battery set in the VIBROTEST 60 and the charger
unit is made through spring-loaded contacts under the
VIBROTEST 60.
Caution
Opening the battery set housing may lead to damage!
The use of primary cells is not permitted!
The battery set of the VIBROTEST 60 must not remain in the
instrument
during transport by aircraft.
The connections of the battery set must not be short-circuited!
11.1.1 Battery set voltage monitoring
An internal circuit monitors the battery set voltage. When the
battery set voltage falls below a certain specified level the user
is warned by a „RED„ LED which lights up next to the display
screen of the instrument that the remaining operating time is at
most 2 minutes. This function is only available when the
VIBROTEST 60 has been on for more than 10 minutes (see
Chapter 2.4)
If the battery set voltage falls below a second specified level the
VIBROTEST 60 switches off automatically. At this point any
measurement currently under progress is stopped and the
measured data is discarded.
The VIBROTEST 60 can only be switched on again if it is
rested on the power / charger unit cradle or another charged
battery set is inserted.
