11. Temperature safety devices
11.1 Over-temperature protective device (class 1)
The temperature test chamber for natural simulation MK is equipped with an internal temperature safety
device class 1 according to DIN 12880. It serves to protect the unit and prevents danger caused by major
defect.
If the actual temperature exceeds the nominal temperature by about 20°C, the over temperature protec-
tive device permanently switches off the unit. The user cannot take the device into operation again. This
protective cut-off device is located internally. Only a service specialist can replace it. In this case, please
contact an authorized service or BINDER service.
11.2 Safety controller (over-temperature safety device class 2)
The temperature test chamber for natural simulation MK is equipped with an over temperature safety
device class 2 acc. to DIN 12880. It is called a “safety controller”. This second, electrically independent
temperature controller takes over control at a selectable set point in case of fault. It serves to protect the
charging material against extensive high temperatures.
With the option over-/under temperature safety device (chap. 11.3), the safety controller must
be set to maximum temperature.
The message “TEMPERATURE LIMIT” on the controller display indicates safety controller activity. The
safety controller controls the temperature test chamber to the entered safety controller set-point until the
temperature inside the chamber returns below this temperature and until you then reset it by button
RESET.
Regularly check the safety controller setting for set-point type “Limit” or “Offset”
•
in Manual Mode according to the entered set-point temperature value
•
in Program Mode according to the highest temperature value of the selected temperature
program
Set the temperature value of the safety device by about 5°C to 10°C above the highest tem-
perature set-point.
Safety controller set-point types:
Limit
Absolute maximum permitted temperature value
Example: temperature set-point 100°C /
212°F
, safety controller set-point 105°C /
221°F.
Offset
Maximum over temperature above any active temperature set point. (e.g., 5°C). The maxi-
mum changes temperature internally and automatically with every set-point change.
Do NOT change the temperature unit from °C to °F.
