The scanner can be in one of seven states:
Scanner State
Description
SCANNER INITIALIZING Going through the power up sequence
READY
Waiting for a command from the host
SCANNING
Executing a host command
STOPPED
By error or stop request
ERROR PROCESSING
Trying to clear an error
Blinking bulb icon (
)
Lamps are wearing out. (A blinking bulb icon at the
READY menu also indicates that lamps may need to
be replaced.)
DOOR OPEN
Side access panel is open
The following seven subsections describe these states in more detail.
5.2.2.1 SCANNER INITIALIZING
When you apply power to the scanner or request a reset through the application software,
the scanner goes through a power up sequence. The scanner cycles through a series of
diagnostic routines. If a scanner component fails, an error is displayed.
NOTE:
Errors displayed during initialization should be reported immediately to a Bell &
Howell service representative. Refer to the Contact Information page at the front of
this manual.
While the scanner runs through its diagnostics, it displays the following initialization
messages:
