Using Model 5380 Ethernet and Model 5580 Token Ring Routers

To display the router interface connections to the backplane, press c 
again.

A table showing the port number (Cluster Port) of each router interface, the 
status of the connection, the backplane segment, and the media access control 
(MAC) address is displayed. When you install a router in a chassis for the first 
time, the default status for each cluster port is “segmented” and the backplane 
attachment is “none” (see Figure 3-9).

Setting a Backplane Attachment

The chassis backplane Ethernet bus consists of 12 Ethernet segments. Each of the 
four interfaces on the Model 5380 Ethernet Router can be configured to access 4 
of the 12 backplane segments on the chassis.

To set a backplane attachment (or set a backplane segment):
