Installing Net Modules

Model 5380 and 5580 routers can operate without a net module installed. The net 
modules provide optional network connectivity to additional LANs and WANs.

You can install any combination of available net modules onto the router modules.

To install a net module, follow these steps:

1.

Place the router baseboard on a grounded antistatic mat with the 
components facing up.

Make sure to wear your antistatic wrist strap.

2.

Remove one of the filler panels from the front panel by removing the two 
screws (see Figure 2-7).

3.

Tilt the net module to position it next to the open slot and slide the board 
under the metal frame (see Figure 2-8).
