Chapter 2
3.
Pull approximately 9 in. of Ethernet and power cable through the hole.
Route the cables through the bracket before you attach the bracket to the
ceiling. Route the cables through the main cable access hole and then
through the smaller access hole as shown in
Figure 16 on page 46
.
4.
(Optional) Use the ground screw to attach the building ground wire to the
mounting bracket.
See
Grounding the Access Point on page 39
for general grounding
instructions.
5.
Connect the Ethernet and power cables to the access point.
6.
Align the access point feet over the keyhole mounting slots on the optional
mounting bracket.
7.
Slide the access point onto the optional mounting bracket until it clicks
into place.
Deploying the Access Point
on the Wireless Network
After you have mounted the access point, follow these steps to deploy it on the
wireless network:
1.
Attach the power cord.
2.
Plug the adapter (with the power cord attached) into the WAP.
3.
Plug the power cord into the outlet.
4.
Observe the access point status indicators.
See
Access Point Status Indicators on page 48
for descriptions of the status
indicators.
Once you have configured the access point using the console cable, see
Connect
to the Stratix 5100 WAP Access Point Locally on page 54
, it begins a power-up
sequence that you can verify by observing the access point status indicators. If the
power-up sequence is successful, the discovery and join process begins.
During this process, the status indicators blinks sequentially green, red, and off.
When the access point has joined a controller, the status indicators is green if no
clients are associated or blue if one or more clients are associated. If the status
indicators are not on, the access point is most likely not receiving power.
