2-2 Installing the Open Controller CPU Module
Preparing the Battery 1747-OCE
The 1747-OCE uses a 1747-BA Lithium battery to backup the 8K dual port
register, real-time clock, and CMOS. Before using the open controller,
make sure the 1747-BA Lithium battery is firmly fastened in place on the
front panel of the 1747-OCE open controller CPU module. Connect the
battery wires as shown in the figure below.

1747-OCF
The 1747-OCF uses a rechargeable Lithium Vanadium Pentoxide battery to
backup the 512K SRAM memory, real-time clock, and CMOS. The battery,
which is embedded in the CPU module and is not accessible, is enabled by a
jumper (see figure below). The battery should last for the life of the module.
The module needs to be powered for approximately two hours before the
battery becomes fully charged. A fully charged battery provides backup
power for the CMOS setup and configuration data, real-time clock, and
512K SRAM memory for approximately 120 days.
Important: Unlike the 1747-OCE, the battery in the 1747-OCF does not
backup the 8K dual port register.

Important: Placing the jumper in the Clear CMOS position will restore
CMOS settings to factory defaults.
