Loading Windows NT on your 1747-OCF
Open Controller
Before You Begin This section describes how to load MS-DOS and Windows NT onto a 2.5”
IDE drive in a 1747-OCIDE25 module in your 1747-OCF open controller
system. Although there are various methods to load operating systems, this
procedure requires a minimum of hardware (no CD-ROM or floppy disk
drive attached to the open controller system).
Procedure Requirements:
•
PC that can boot DOS with a CD-ROM driver
•
MS-DOS 6.22 setup disks (3)
•
Windows NT Workstation 4.0 CD-ROM
•
cables:
– serial cable (1747-OCSB) and open controller serial adapter
(1747-OCS92)
– parallel cable and open controller parallel adapter (1747-OCP252)
•
1747-OCIDE25 IDE interface module and a 2.5" IDE rotating drive
•
Open controller with 1747-VGA1 or 1747-OCVGAE module, monitor,
and keyboard
Preparing the hardware
1. Mount the 2.5" IDE drive onto the 1747-OCIDE25 module. Plug the
ribbon cable into the PRIMARY connector. The PRIMARY connector is
closest to the drive. For additional information, see the 1747 Open
Controller IDE Interface Module Installation Instructions, publication
1747-5.30.
2. Set the jumpers on the 1747-OCIDE25 module for the PRIMARY drive.
The IRQ14 jumper should be IN. The remainder should be OUT.
3. Insert the 1747-OCIDE25 module into the open controller chassis.
