5-4 Defining System Settings
Defining the primary IRQ (IRQ 14)
If your open controller has an embedded FlashDrive or CompactFlash (or
microdrive), it always acts as the primary master and uses IRQ 14. Other
possible primary devices are:
•
ATA memory devices in a PCMCIA interface module
•
devices connected to an IDE interface module
Defining the secondary IRQ (IRQ 15)
The secondary master and secondary slave drives share IRQ 15. Possible
secondary drives are:
•
ATA memory devices in a PCMCIA interface module
•
devices connected to an IDE interface module
If you have a: Then:
1747-OCE
•
The primary master and primary slave drives share IRQ 14. Leave
this interrupt defined as PCI/PnP.
•
No open controller option module is ever assigned this interrupt.
1747-OCF
•
IRQ 14 is dedicated to the primary master only and is not
configurable.
If you have a: Then:
1747-OCE
•
Leave this interrupt defined as ISA/EISA if you are using an ATA
drive in a PCMCIA interface module.
•
Change this interrupt to PCI/PnP if you are using the secondary
channel on an IDE interface module.
•
No open controller option module is ever automatically assigned
this interrupt, even if you change the interrupt to PCI/PnP in BIOS.
•
If your open controller system does not have a secondary drive,
you can use IRQ 15 as an ISA interrupt for another device, such as
an Ethernet card or 1747-OCKTX, -OCKTXD channel.
1747-OCF
•
Configure IRQ 15 for ISA if you are using an ATA drive in a PCMCIA
interface module or an IDE interface module. Otherwise, this
interrupt works just like the others and can be assigned option
modules.
