SERIAL connector provides RS-232C serial data communication interface for the generator. This interface is
used for the command line interface.

DEBUG connector is for Quantum Data use only.
ƒ
ETHERNET connector enables you to connect to the instrument through an IP session for controlling the
AUXiliary channel through the Agilent test automation systems:
o
The Agilent U7232A Automation Software
o
The Agilent N5990A Automation Software.
o
The Agilent W2642A Graphical User Interface
The Ethernet interface is also used when upgrading the generator.

GPIB connector provides IEEE-488 GPIB interface to the generator (882 only; not provided on 881
generators).
Front panel
This subsection describes the front panel interface for operating the generator. All features of the 882E not related
to the AUX Channel Controller function have been disabled in the base W2642A product. Therefore many of the
W2642A menus for the standard 882E functions have been disabled. However the administrative functions are
still available. You will only need to use these front panel keys to specify the IP address. The front panel keys are
shown below.

Upgrading the W2642A
When there is a new version of the AUX Channel Controller software available for the W2642A, you may want to
upgrade. The new software can be found on the Quantum Data downloads
page:
www.quantumdata.com/downloads/index.asp . The upgrade procedures are provided in the 882E User
Guide also available at the link shown above.
