Electromagnetic Flowmeter

COPA-XE / MAG-XE

10.4 Converter Exchange

All parameter settings are stored in an EEPROM located on the
display board. When a converter module has to be exchanged,
it is possible, after the new converter module is installed to plug
the old EEPROM into the new converter and upload all the
parameter settings into the new converter. Converter specific
data are automatically updated.

Note:

After the configuration process has been completed,
all parameter settings should be saved in the external
EEPROM.

10.5 Socket Location for the Memory Module

(external EEPROM)

The socket for the ext. EEPROM is located on the front of the
display board or for versions without a display, on the EEPROM
connection board.

10.6 Maintenance / Repair

The flowmeter primary is essentially maintenance free. An
annual check should be conducted of the ambient conditions
(air circulation, humidity), seal integrity of the process
connection gaskets, cable connectors and cover screws,
functional reliability of the supply voltage, the lightning protec-
tion and the grounds.

All repair and maintenance tasks should only be performed by
qualified service personnel.

Please observe the Note (Hazardous Material Information)
when returning the flowmeter primary to the ABB Automation
Products factory for repair!

Notes for Opening the Housing

The following notes must be observed when opening
the housing of the converter:

•

All connection leads must be voltage free.

•

When the housing is open, the EMC-Protection is limited.

10.7 Display Rotation

Remove the housing cover screws. The display board is
mounted by 4 Phillips head screws (Fig. 45, 1 to 4).

After removing these screws the display can be removed.
Carefully plug in the rotated display and reinstall the
4 screws. Then carefully reinstall the cover and secure with the
cover screws. Check that the gaskets are properly seated. Only
then can Protection Class IP 67 be maintained.

General Note

•

If the forward and reverse flow indicators in the display
do not agree with the actual flow direction change the
parameter “Flow Direction” from “Normal” to “Inverse”.

10.8 Replaceable Parts List, Flowmeter Primary

If the liner, electrodes or magnet coils require repair the
flowmeter primary must be returned to the ABB Automation
Products factory in Göttingen, Germany. Please observe the
Note “Hazardous Information”.
