Trap Translation

EMS provides an updated 

trapd.conf

 file that decodes all 3Com device 

traps. EMS also sends its own traps for backup, restore, and agent update 
actions. 

EMS’ SNMP library does not share the trap port. Therefore, EMS receives 
all traps and forwards them on to OpenView or NetView as appropriate. 
OpenView can handle around 2,000 traps per second while EMS can only 
handle around 200.

MIBs

MIB files are loaded for use with the Network Node Manager or NetView 
built-in MIB browser.
