3 In the New Device dialog box, enter the appropriate discovery
parameters. See Table 32 .
If you are using SNMPv1 or v2c, go to step 8. If you are using v3, continue
with step 4.
4 When you select v3 for the SNMP Version , the dialog box changes to
reveal three new fields. See Figure 27 .

Table 32 Discovery Parameters
Parameter Description
Hostname/IP Address The IP address of the SNMP device to be discovered.
Timeout (sec) The SNMP time out, in seconds. The default is 1.
Retrys The number of times EMS will retry connecting to an
SNMP device. The default is 0.
SNMP Version The SNMP version number.
Read Community The SNMP Read Community string for access to the
devices. This should match the
Read Community string of
the devices to be discovered.
Write Community The SNMP Write Community string. This should match the
Write Community string of the devices to be discovered.
