DRA-2 UNIVERSAL COMMUNICATION NODE
65/158
USER GUIDE - Rev.5 (January 2018)
The default service policy is
Priority
. However, as in the absence of specific rules, in
practice, all traffic is classified with the same priority. The policy under these conditions is
FIFO.
In the event of classification rules existing, the
Priority
policy is automatically put into
operation.
As an alternative, there is the option of specifying the
HTB
or
HTB-Shared
policy
individually for each device.
HTB
stands for
Hierarchical Token Bucket.
The service policy
allows the weighted share of the bandwidth to the data flows generated by the classification
rules, which are always three (high, medium and low).
The weighting is configured with a percentage of the available bandwidth, which in turn, is a
parameter that must be specified by the user.
The difference between
HTB
and
HTB-Shared
is that in the first case, the bandwidth is
assigned strictly in accordance with the weighted values; even if one of the classes does
not use the assigned bandwidth the other classes will never exceed the configured
percentage value, that is to say, the percentage values are in all cases maximum limits that
will never be exceeded. On the contrary, the
HTB-Shared
policy allows the use of a
bandwidth not occupied by other classes if any of them exceeds the limit. In these case,
the percentage values act like minimum guaranteed limits in the case of full occupation,
while also admitting traffic peaks that exceed the guaranteed value when there is no full
occupation.
