APPENDIX C

WIDEBAND PLC COUPLERS

ZIV has capacitive and inductive couplers that allow the high-frequency signals modulated

by the BPLC/SSPLC interfaces of the DRA-2 node to be injected between a distribution

feeder phase and ground, using Powerline Communications (PLC) technology.

The correct impedance matching of the couplers with the communications equipment and

the medium-voltage cables, in the frequency range used by the wideband, is a defining

factor for the point-to-point transmission characteristics between distribution facilities.

The wideband PLC couplers are designed to comply with industry standards, for safe

communication access to the distribution grid equipment.

Models are available that adapt to the different distribution switchgear types. These are as

follows:
