SECTION б - INSTALLATION
TEST PAGE
The best way to test the Installation is to send an actual page. This
verifies that the Model 16 is running properly, the hardware connections
are working, and the programming settings for Transmitter Control are okay.
3.
Program one Paging Format. From the Main Programming Menu type "S" to
reach the System Menu and "F" to select Paging Formats.
a)
Type "0" and CR for Format number 0.
b)
Type "0" if your test pager is a POCSAG pager and "1" if it is a
Motorola Golay. Enter this Format type with CR.
c)
Type "20" and CR for the Max msg length.
d)
If you have a POCSAG pager, just type CR to keep the Fast Baud.
e)
Type CR to return to the System Menu.
4.
Type CR twice more to leave Programming mode.
Note the capcode of the pager (see "Section 9 - Reference" if you're unsure
how to find it). Also note a function digit that allows Tone and Display
paging. With fresh batteries in the pager, turn it on.
5.
Access the Paging Terminal again but enter the Full Capcode Paging
mode instead of Programming mode.
a)
Press Carriage Return (CR) and the Model 16 prints "ID=".
b)
Type upper case "C" and CR.
c)
The Model 16 displays:
-- Full Capcode Paging Mode --
Format
6.
Place one page:
a)
Type Format "0" and CR.
b)
Type the Capcode and CR.
c)
Type the Function digit and CR.
d)
Type a short test Message and CR (you didn't get a Message
prompt if you didn't use the correct Function digit).
e)
Type "Y" or "N" as appropriate for a numeric or alpha pager.
f)
Type "Y" to send the page right away.
7.
Step 6 may be repeated a few times to verify operation or
inoperation.
8.
If the pager wasn't alerted, try each recommendation below, ONE AT A
TIME, and repeat a test page after each.
a)
Change the Digital Data Polarity (System Programming 4A-5)
b)
Monitor the radio channel and verify that data is being
transmitted; compare it to the output directly from the Model
16. Recheck the deviation.
This completes Installation! Replace the top cover and the four screws.
