SECTION 4 - PROGRAMMING
SUGGESTED ORDER OF PROGRAMMING
The Programming functions described in the following Sub-Sections are
listed in the order that they appear in the menus. For first time
installation it may be more helpful to skip directly to the sections that
will be important for system interface and to save the minute details for
later.
Initialization
Before starting to enter a subscriber base into the Paging Terminal
the existing values should be cleared to ensure a clean start with
known conditions.
1.
Initialize all Users. Do this by selecting "Reset" in the User
Menu.
2.
Erase all User Repertory Messages. This is done in the User
Repertory Menu, "Clear Dir".
3.
If the Call Counting option is installed then reset all User
counts and Message counts to zero. Call Counting is found in the
System Menu.
System Menu Selections
4.
The Transmitter parameters should be set by the Installer
(detailed in "Section 7 - Installation").
5.
Set the Station ID parameters if this option is required.
6.
Create as many Paging Formats as will be necessary to serve the
pagers in the system.
7.
Set the batching time and make the other option choices in the
Paging Options selection.
User Menu Selections
It may be a good idea to only program 1 User to start with. Once
programmed, try paging that User several times before continuing to
program others.
10. Program the Capcode.
11. Program the Function digit.
12. Program the Format (assigning the User the number of one of the
Paging Formats created in the System Menu).
13. Program what type of Message the User receives.
This is enough to try a few test pages. Once it is clear that
everything is working properly, the other more specialized choices can
be set, if any are needed (such as Priority page, Require Msg
restriction, and Tone Only restriction).
