REPLACING THE CENTER BASE
P erform the f o l l o w i n g st eps only i f y o u d e t e r m i n e d
that you must replace the center base.
Refer to Illu stration Bo ok, Page 14, Pictorial 4-21 for
the follow in g steps,

Rem o v e t h e f o ur ¹ 6 x '/8 " s e lf -tappi ng screws
(two on each side) that hold the slide rails to
t he center base. Then u n h oo k th e tw o s p r i n g s
and set the slide rails and har d w are aside tem-
porarily.

unhook the springs from the solder lugs.

R em o v e t h e t w o 6 - 3 2 x '/ 8 " s crews f r om l o c a -
tions BR and BP. Then remove the mask brack-
e t and set it and the screws aside temporari l y ,

R em o v e t h e 6 - 32 x 1 ~ /8" screws from l o c a tions
AG, AH , A I , an d A J an d t h e ¹ 8 x 1'/ z " s h eet
metal screw from l o cation AK . Set these screws
aside temporari ly . N O TE: These are the screws
that hold th e center base to the base and chas-

sheet metal screws. Push the shield forw ard be-
fore you tighten the hardw are.

P lace a cloth on y ou r w o r k s u r f ace and lay t h e
s1s.
CRT mask face down .
•
Rem o v e t h e t w o ¹ 8 x '/ 2" s h e et m e t al s crews
from locations BT and BS. Set these screws and
t he ground strap aside temporari l y ,
•
Slide the mask bracket over the mask at BP and
B R. Also m ake sure that th e c i r c ui t b o ar d a n d
shield i s o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e s u p p or t b r a ck et
that is mou n ted at the u p per r i ght h an d c o r n er
o f the C RT . P u s h t h e b ase d o w n a s f a r a s i t
will go and tighten the screws at BP and BR.
•
P u l l th e c e n t e r b a se away f r om t h e C RT f r o n t
panel assembly. Then discard the center base.
N OTE: The v i d e o d r i v e r c i r c ui t b o ar d w i l l r e -
m ain fastened to th e f r on t p a nel assembly. Be
c areful you do not d amage this assembly w h i l e
you perform the foll o w i n g steps.
