CARE, MAINTENANCE, TROUBLESHOOTING AND SERVICE
5.1
Instrument Care
Care of the instrument by the user is restricted to the following operations:
The instruments are not equipped with any special devices for protection against substances
that are corrosive, potentially infectious, toxic or radioactive, or other substances that could be
hazardous to health. All legal regulations must be observed when handling such substances,
particularly the relevant national accident prevention regulations.
Break power supply to all system units with a line supply inlet and detach the line plugs before
you proceed with work for cleaning.
Cleaning of paint surfaces
•
Use a clean, slightly moistened piece of cloth. A mild cleaning agent may be added to the water for
this.
•
Take care that no moisture enters the instruments.
•
Do not use any solvents.
•
Dry the cleaned surfaces with a lint-free cloth.
Cleaning of glass surfaces
•
To remove dirt or fingerprints from glass surfaces, use a clean optics-cleaning cloth.
•
To remove sticking dirt, immerse the optics-cleaning cloth in a mixture of distilled water and a little
amount of a cleaning agent.
•
At the end of the cleaning procedure, breathe slightly onto the glass surface and rub it dry with a
clean cloth.
•
Fluff or dust is best removed with a clean natural-hair brush.
Storage of the Laser Manipulation Slider
•
The laser manipulation slider is supplied in a special case, which is suitable for dust-free storage also if
you do not want to use the imaging system for laser manipulation. Protect the laser manipulation
slider with the dustproof cover as soon as you have removed it from the laser port to avoid dust and
dirt on the optical element, which would possibly reduce its performance.
5.2
Instrument Maintenance
For maintenance work, see the operating manual (B 46-0111) for the Axio Observer.Z1 microscope, as
well as the operating instructions of your computer system.
