ADJUSTING THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT
SWITCH
TIP
The rear brake light switch is operated by the
movement of the brake pedal.
Adjustment is correct when the brake light
comes on by depressing the brake pedal 5.5–
12.0 mm (0.22–0.47 in) or more.
1. Check:
• Rear brake light operation timing
Incorrect
→
Adjust.
2. Adjust:
• Rear brake light operation timing
a. Hold the main body “1” of the rear brake
light switch so that it does not rotate and
turn the adjusting nut “2” until the rear
brake light comes on at the proper time.

CHECKING AND LUBRICATING THE
CABLES
The following procedure applies to all of the in-
ner and outer cables.
WARNING
EWA13270
Damaged outer cable may cause the cable to
corrode and interfere with its movement. Re-
place damaged outer cable and inner cables
as soon as possible.
1. Check:
• Outer cable
Damage

Replace.
2. Check:
• Cable operation
Rough movement
→
Lubricate.
TIP
Hold the cable end upright and pour a few drops
of lubricant into the cable sheath or use a suit-
able lubricating device.

CHECKING THE THROTTLE GRIP
1. Check:
• Throttle grip movement
Rough movement
→
Lubricate or replace the
defective part(s).
TIP
With the engine stopped, turn the throttle grip
slowly and release it. Make sure that the throttle
grip turns smoothly and returns properly when
released.
Repeat this check with the handlebar turned all
the way to the left and right.
