SELF-DIAGNOSIS
The YZF-R1 features a self-diagnosing system for the follow ing circuit(-s):
• throttle position sensor
• EXUP
• fuel level indicator light
If any of these circuits are defective, their respective condition codes w ill be displayed on the
tachom eter w hen the m ain sw itch is set to “ ON” (irrespective of w hether the engine is run-
ning or not)
Tachometer display sequence

Throttle posi-

• Short-circuit
• Locked • The ignitor unit stays set to the
w ide-open throttle ignition tim -
ing. The m otorcycle can be rid-
den.
• The tachom eter displays the
condition code.

tion
• Short-circuit
• The EXUP valve stays in the
open position for three seconds
and then the servom otor shuts
off. The m otorcycle can be rid-
den.
• The tachom eter displays the
condition code.

• Servom otor is
locked.
• The servom otor’s pow er supply
is constantly interrupted so that
it w ill not burn out. The m otorcy-
cle can be ridden.
• The tachom eter displays the
condition code.

codes in ascending order, cycling through the sequence repeatedly.
