TROUBLESHOOTING
Procedure 1
Check:
1. Exup servom otor operation
(w ith the EXUP servom otor coupler
connected to the w ire harness)
2. voltage
3. Exup servom otor operation
4. (w ith the EXUP servom otor coupler
disconnected from the w ire harness)
5. Exup servom otor resistance
6. w iring
(the entire EXUP system )
Procedure 2
Check:
1. m ain and ignition fuses
2. battery
3. m ain sw itch
4. engine stop sw itch
5. w iring
(the entire EXUP system )
NOTE:
• Before troubleshooting, rem ove the
follow ing part(-s):
1) rider seat
2) fuel tank
3) bottom cow ling
• Troubleshoot w ith the follow ing spe-
cial tool(-s).
When the engine speed changes, the
EXUP servomotor does not operate.

Procedure 1
1.EXUP servom otor operation (w ith the
EXUP servom otor coupler connected to
the w ire harness)
• Disconnect the EXUP cables from the
EXUP servom otor pulley.
• Start the engine and rev it to 2,000 r/m in.
NO
YES
• Does the EXUP servom otor pulley turn?
Check that the
EXUP cables are
properly installed.
If OK, check the
EXUP valve and
cables. Refer to
“ ENGINE” in chap-
ter 4.

2.Voltage
• Connect the pocket tester (DC 20V) to
the EXUP servom otor coupler (w ire har-
ness side) as show n.
Tester positive probe
→
black/ red 1
Tester negative probe
→
black/ yellow 2
• Set the m ain sw itch to “ ON” .
• M easure the voltage (12V) betw een
black/red 1 and black/yellow 2 (w ire
harness side).
• Is the voltage w ithin specification?
Go to Procedure 2.
