Checking the pulser coil
1.
Disconnect the pulser coil
1
coupler.
2.
Connect the special service tool

to the
pulser coil coupler.
3.
Measure the pulser coil
1
output peak
voltage. Replace if below specification.
NOTE:
• To prevent the engine from starting when
cranking it, be sure to disconnect all spark
plug caps.
• Do not remove the clip from the engine
shut-off switch.
• If measuring the output peak voltage under
the unloaded conditions, disconnect the
pulser coil coupler.
• When using the manual starter to crank the
engine, the voltage values may vary
depending on the speed at which the
starter handle is pulled.
4.
Disconnect the special service tool

5.
Measure the pulser coil resistance.
Replace if out of specification.
6.
Connect the pulser coil coupler.
Checking the charge coil
1.
Measure the charge coil
1
output peak
voltage. Replace the stator assembly if
below specification.
