Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001

F40 4-Cyl., F/T50 Tiller Handle Kit

N O T E :

Align the taped end 

a

(see illustration 2

below) of the battery cable and the extension wire
lead with the end of the grommet.

Install the cable stopper

, rubber seal

and remote control cables

Install the fitting plate

and bolt

T orque: B olt - 8N m ( 0.8m-kg, 5.8 ft-lb.)

Adjust the shift cable joint position.
a. Turn the shift handle

to the neutral 

position.

b. Align the center of the set pin

with the

mark 

a

on the bracket.

c. Adjust the position of the cable joint until 

its hole aligns with the set pin.

d. Install the clip

and tighten the lock nut

M ake sure the cable joint is screwed in more
than 8mm ( 0.31 in) .

Check the shift control for smooth operation.

7.

Adjust the throttle cable joint position.
a. Turn the throttle grip fully closed.
b. Align the mark

on the throttle lever

with the mark

on the shift bracket.

c. Adjust the position of the cable joint until

its hole aligns with the set pin.

d. Install the clip

and tighten the lock nut
