Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
PROPELLERS
Yamaha propellers are specifically designed to
match the characteristics of Yamaha Outboard
Motors. Special computer-assisted design ensures
the best possible performance.
Yamaha props are available in plastic, aluminum,
and stainless steel for many different applications:
Saltwater Series
This new breed of stainless steel props are
designed exclusively for offshore fishing boats
and feature highly polished, larger design. The
aggressive rake angle and extra cupping on the
blades provide superior mid-range fuel efficiency
and excellent anti-cavitation performance. For the
offshore fisherman, these features mean improved
cruising range and better handling in rough seas.
GYT-3 and 4 Performance Series
These new props are produced using the one piece
investment casting technique for superior strength
and consistent blade shape. The use of 15-5 stain-
less steel, high carbon alloy, offers durability,
resilience, and excellent corrosion resistance. The
progressive pitch design and highly cupped
blades reduce cavitation for increased efficiency
and performance. The through-hub exhaust sys-
tem on the larger hub 3-blade propellers are sup-
plemented with specially designed outlets located
at the leading edge of each blade for enhanced
acceleration and low speed operation. The 4-blade
is designed to improve performance and handling
on a variety of boats. The 4-blade prop will
improve hole shot performance, while maintain-
ing nearly the same top speed as a comparable 3-
blade propeller. GYT props fit all 60~250hp
Yamaha Outboards. Counter-rotation models are
also available.
T he 4-blade V 6 performance propellers use an
exhaust hub smaller than the gear case exhaust
outlet. T his allows exhaust to exit around the
hub at low speed and increased acceleration.
Pro Series High Performance
These stainless steel props offer more cup for bet-
ter acceleration, more bow lift, and improved top
end performance. It allows higher transom mount-
ing, yet does not increase steering torque.
Standard Stainless Steel
Stronger and more durable than aluminum with
through-hub exhaust. Designed for shallow water
use.
Weedless
Designed for use in shallow water. Eliminates
weed buildup around the propeller hub. Available
in aluminum for Yamaha 4hp & 5hp models, and
stainless steel for 25hp & 30hp motors.
Left Hand Counter-rotating
Designed for dual engine systems. Stainless steel
construction. Perfectly matched to Yamaha right
hand propellers.
Dual Thrust
A Yamaha exclusive. Specially designed for sail-
boats and other large displacement boats.
Redirects exhaust so the blades cut through
“clean” water, for higher efficiency. Thrust in
improved over conventional propellers; up to
70% in reverse, and 10% in forward.
