Safety instructions for cut-off
grinding:
a) Avoid
blocking of the cut-off wheel or
excessive contact pressure.
Do not make
excessively deep cuts. Overloading of the cut-off
wheel increases the pressure and the susceptibility
to tilting or blocking, and hence the risk of a recoil
or grinding wheel breakage.
b) Avoid the area in front of and behind
the rotating cut-off wheel.
If you move the
cut-off wheel away from yourself in the workpiece,
the electric tool with the rotating wheel can sud
-
denly fly towards you in the event of a recoil.
c)
If the cut-off wheel jams or you inter
-
rupt the work, switch off the device
and hold it steady until the wheel has
come to a standstill.
Never try to pull the
running cut-off wheel out of the cut as this could
result in a recoil. Identify and remedy the cause of
the jamming.
d) Do not switch on the electric tool again
as long as it is in the workpiece.
Allow
the cut-off wheel to reach its full speed before
carefully continuing the cut. Otherwise the wheel
may snag, spring out of the workpiece or cause
a recoil.
e) Support plates or large workpieces
to reduce the risk of a recoil caused
by the cut-off wheel jamming.
Large
workpieces can bend under their own weight.
The workpiece must be supported on both sides
of the wheel, both in the vicinity of the cut and at
the edge.
f) Be particularly careful when cutting
“pockets” in existing walls or other
surfaces that you cannot see behind.
As the wheel cuts into the surface it may collide
with gas or water pipes, electric cables or other
objects and cause a recoil.
Safety instructions for sanding
a) Do not use oversized sanding discs
and follow the manufacturer’s spec-
ifications for the sanding disc size.
Sand
-
ing discs that extend beyond the grinding disc can
cause injuries and lead to blocking and breakage
of the sanding disc or result in a recoil.
Safety instructions for working
with wire brushes:
a) Note that wire brushes lose pieces of
wire even during normal operation.
Do
not overload the wires by applying too much con
-
tact pressure. Flying pieces of wire can very easily
penetrate through thin clothing and/or the skin.
b) If a safety hood is recommended, take
care that the wire brush does not come
into contact with the safety hood.
Disc
and cup brushes may increase their diameter due
to the contact pressure and centrifugal force.
