Extension Spring
To.change.dovetail.template.size,.do.these.steps:
1.
Remove the extension spring shown in
Figure.22
,
and pull the headstock backward (toward you) to
clear the tracer pin of the template.
2.
Remove the wing screw on each side of the template
bar.
3.
Slide the template bar out of the casting and
reinstall it, as shown in
Figure.23
, so the desired
template size is facing down.
4.
Lock the template in place with the wing screws,
then replace the extension spring.
Setting.Fences
The dovetail machine features HDPE (high density
polyethylene) plastic fences for both the horizontal and
vertical workpieces (see
Figure.24
). These fences are cut
into during operation to reduce tear-out.
The fences should be set so that the dovetails are evenly
distributed across the width of the workpiece. Setting the
fences requires attention to the "in" and "out" positions
of the tracer pin (see
Figure.25
). When the tracer pin is
in the "in" position, the cutter is cutting the workpiece.
When the tracer is in the "out" position, the cutter is
outside of the workpiece.
To.set.the.fences,.do.these.steps:
1.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2.
Remove the guard.
3.
Place the vertical workpiece on the support bar.
