Load the Flexible Coupler onto the end of each Lead Screw, noting the depth they are
inserted. Gently fasten each grub screw until it touches the thread on the lead screw, then,
alternating between the grub screws, tighten them up until they are securely in place. Try to
make sure they are tightened in a position where the coupler is straight and in-line with the
screw. If you notice the coupler sides are not parallel with the lead screws, you can loosen
them and try again. Rolling the lead screws across a table with the couplers hanging over
the edge is a good way to quickly determine the straightness of the lead screws
and
the
squareness of the coupler fitment by eyesight:
Set the Lead Screws aside for the moment and fit the Z Motor Brackets to the Z Stepper
Motors using the M3 x 10mm Hex Head Screws with an M3 Flat Washer under the head of
each bolt. Pay particular attention to the orientation of the brackets in relation to the
connectors on the stepper motors – they must be correctly orientated or the cables will be
too short when it comes time to wire them up and plug them in:
