Notes on operation

Wilo SE 2019-10
Only regulate the shut-off device on the pressure side at the duty point once full speed
has been reached.
DANGER
Risk of burns caused by hot surface temperatures!
A pressure relief device must be set up in the pressure pipe.
If this is not complied with, there is a danger that the pump housing surface temper-
ature will become extremely hot after a very short time due to rapid heating of the
fluid in the pump interior.
There is a risk of burns!
DANGER
Risk of fatal injury due to high pressure caused by closed shut-off
devices!
If the shut-off devices are closed on both the suction and pressure sides, there is an
additional danger of overstraining, even to the point of bursting, as a result of the
rapid increase in pressure inside the pump!
Escaping fluid cause serious burns!
Flying parts result in serious injuries or death!
If dry running cannot be excluded, use differential pressure measurement
to ensure that the minimum flow rate Q
min.
=0.1 x Q
max.
is not fallen below.
Refer to the characteristic curve for the appropriate pump type.
Switch-off criteria is differential pressure Δp, which corresponds to the
delivery head at Q
min.
for the relevant pump type.
There is an option for flow rate monitoring as an alternative. Switch-off
criteria is the flow rate Q
min.
=0.1 x Q
max.
for the relevant pump.
The pump must switch off if this is fallen below.
It is also possible to monitor the motor power consumption P1.
The following switch-off criteria apply to the motor power consumption
P1:
P1 < 0.2 x P2
Nom
for the 2-pole and
P1 < 0.4 x P2
Nom
for the 4-pole drives.
An ignition protection system based only on monitoring the power con-
sumption is not permitted. Monitoring of the differential pressure and/or
the flow rate has priority in every case.
If both these monitoring facilities can be used in parallel, control the sys-
tem so that the pump is always switched off as soon as one of the two
boundary conditions occurs.
Control of the monitoring must comply with the requirements of an igni-
tion protection system Type b1 in accordance with ISO 80079-37 as a
minimum.
The specified minimum amounts are in reference to water and water-like li-
quids. If, however, fluids with varying physical characteristic values are
present, check whether there is a danger of additional warming. If this is the
case, it will be necessary to increase the minimum volume (see fluid list in
chapter "Authorised operating conditions").

Protective devices
WARNING
Risk of injury due to rotating components!
Covers made of plastic (IL series) or metal (IPL series) have been attached to the lan-
terns as finger protection.
If these covers are missing, and if, for example, limbs or objects touch rotating parts,
there is a serious danger of injury!
ƒ
Only operate pumps with the covers!
