Pumps and mechanical seals must be additionally protected against dry
running. This applies especially to pumps in the Wilo-VeroLine-IPL-N and
Wilo-VeroTwin-DPL-N series. There is a danger of electrostatic charging
to the plastic impeller if the impeller is not surrounded by fluid.
Protection against dry running can either be provided by monitoring the
differential pressure or monitoring the flow rate. Furthermore, monitoring
of the pump's power consumption is possible.
All measures must correspond to an ignition protection system of Type b1
in accordance with ISO 80079-37. (See chapters "Dry-running protection"
and "Notes on operation").
The pump may not be operated against closed valves, flow restrictors,
slide valves or other shut-off devices in the fluid circulation.
