11.3 Lowering the room temperature
Lower the room temperature to the energy saving tem-
perature for your sleeping periods and for longer
absences. For regular, repeating absences, it is a good idea
to put these in a time profile and have the energy saving
temperature automatically activated for the desired
period. You can simply and quickly set these at the Geniax
Central Control.
We recommend lowering the room temperature by about
5°C for absences as is the case during full heating times.
Lowering by more than 5°C will generally not produce fur-
ther significant energy savings, since then more energy is
required for heating-up during the next full heating time.
Only for longer absences (for example, going on holiday)
does it make sense to lower the room temperatures more.
In this case, the Wilo-Geniax Decentralised Pump System
automatically ensures sufficient frost protection in win-
ter.
11.4 Sensibly ventilate residential rooms
Wilo recommends only opening the windows for brief
times for ventilation purposes during heating periods;
brief and intensive airing out periods are more effective
and save more energy than leaving bottom hung windows
open for long periods. Never leave windows open for tem-
perature control.
It is true that the Geniax System control has a window
contact (to be provided onsite) that will detect an open
window and switch off the decentralised pump in this
room. Please keep in mind, however, that a greater
expenditure of heating energy will be needed subse-
quently to bring the room back up to the comfort temper-
ature.
Another factor to consider is the resulting temperature
difference to neighbouring rooms will lead to heat losses
in those rooms via enclosing surfaces (that is, walls, doors,
ceilings, floors), meaning that heating is lost inadvertently
and in an uncontrolled fashion from the neighbouring
rooms.
