2.3 Electrical work
DANGER due to electrical current!
Incorrectly performed electrical work can
result in fatal injury! This work may only be
carried out by a qualified electrician.
CAUTION: moisture!
Moisture penetrating the cable will damage
both the pump and the cable. Never immerse
the cable end in fluid and always protect it
from moisture. Unused wires must be insu-
lated!
The pumps are operated with alternating
current
or three-phase current
. The governing
national directives, standards and regulations
(e.g. VDE 0100) as well as the requirements of the
local energy supply company must be observed.
The operator must be informed on the pump
power supply cable and how to cut off the
supply. It is advisable to install a residual-current
device (RCD). If there is a possibility that people
can come into contact with the pump and the
fluid (on building sites, for example), the connec
-
tion
must
also be equipped with a residual-
current device (RCD).
The section entitled “Electrical connection” must
be observed during connection. The technical
specifications must be observed strictly! The
pumps must always be earthed.
If the pump has been switched off by a protec-
tive device, it must not be switched on again
until the fault has been corrected.
When the pump is connected to the electrical
control panel, particularly when electronic devices
such as soft start-up control or frequency con-
verters are used, the switchgear manufacturer’s
specifications must be followed to comply with
the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) require-
ments. Special separate shielding measures
(e.g. shielded cables, filters, etc.) may be neces
-
sary for the power supply and control cables.
NOTICE:
Changes to the cable length or the cable
position can have a significant impact on the
amount of EMC interference.
Use of an interference suppressor is recom-
mended if interference is caused in other
devices!
Connections may only be made provided the
switchgear meets the harmonised EU stand-
ards. Mobile radio equipment may cause system
malfunctions.
Earthing connection
In general, all of our products (units including
protective units and operating point, auxiliary
lifting device) must be earthed. If there is a pos-
sibility that people can come into contact with
the device and the fluid (for example on building
sites), the connection must also be equipped with
a residual-current device (RCD).
The pump units are submersible and correspond
to the norm of the IP68 protection class.
The protection class of fitted switchgear can be
found on the switchgear housing and in corre-
sponding Installation and operating instructions.
2.4 Safety and monitoring devices
Our products may be equipped with mechani-
cal (e.g. suction strainer) and/or electrical
(e.g. thermal sensors, sealing chamber monitor-
ing etc.) safety- and monitoring devices. These
devices must be mounted and connected.
Before commissioning, electrical devices, such
as thermal sensors, float switches etc. must be
connected by a qualified electrician and checked
for correct operation.
Please note that for to this end, certain devices
require a switchgear, e.g. PTC thermistor and
PT100 sensor for trouble-free operation. This
switchgear can be obtained from the manufac-
turer or a qualified electrician.
Personnel must be informed about the devices
used and how they function.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the product!
Never operate the product if the safety and
monitoring devices have been removed,
damaged, and/or if they do not work!
2.5 Conduct during operation
When operating the pump, always follow the
locally applicable laws and regulations for work
safety, accident prevention and handling elec-
trical machinery. To help ensure safe working
practice, the responsibilities of employees should
be clearly specified by the operator. All personnel
are responsible for ensuring that regulations are
observed.
The pump is equipped with moving parts. During
operation, these parts rotate in order to pump the
fluid. Certain substances in the fluid can result in
very sharp edges forming on the moving parts.
WARNING rotating parts!
The rotating parts can crush and sever limbs.
Never reach into the hydraulics or touch
the rotating parts when the machine is in
operation. Before performing maintenance or
repairs, switch off the pump and wait for the
rotating parts to come to a standstill!
