AM/FM Stereo Tuner
– Find the
black
#16 wire from circuit breaker CB1. Connect to the line terminal on the
input side of ac line filter
FL1
that is closest to the rear of the chassis. It may be helpful to
use a pair of long-noise pliers to secure the connector.
– Find the
white
#16 wire from the ac power input connector. Connect to the remaining line
terminal on the input side of ac line filter
FL1
. It may be helpful to use a pair of long-noise
pliers to secure the connector.
– Prepare one 12-inch long #22 black wire. Attach a quick-disconnect terminal to one end.
Attach the terminal to the Load post on ac line filter FL1 closest to the rear of the chassis.
Examine the filter connections. The black wires on the Line and Load terminals should be
on the same side of the device. Route the other end of the black wire to over-temperature
switch SW3.
– Cut a 1/2-inch long piece of small heat-shrink tubing and slip it on the black wire from
FL1 Load. Solder the wire to one of the SW3 terminal posts.
– Prepare one 14-inch long #22 black wire. Cut a 1/2-inch long piece of small heat-shrink
tubing and slip it on the wire. Solder the wire to the available terminal post on SW3.
– Slide the heat-shrink tubing in place and process with the heat gun.
– Route the free end of the black wire toward the front of the chassis. It will be connected
later.
– Prepare an 11-inch long #22 black wire. Attach a quick-disconnect terminal to one end of
the wire. Attach to the
AC-H1
terminal on the AM tuner PWB. Route the other end of the
black wire toward the front of the chassis.
– The two #22 black wires will connect to the front panel power switch. Position the wire
ends at the switch and observe where their paths intersect. Twist the wires together along
this path.
– Attach a spade lug terminal connector to each of the #22 black wires for the front panel
power switch, along with the leads from varistor VR3. There will be two wires in each
spade lug terminal—one black wire and one lead from VR3. Crimp each terminal.
Spaghetti may optionally be used on the leads of VR3.
