AM/FM Stereo Tuner
– Set the front panel tuning control to the proper position using the procedure detailed
below.
•
Set the front panel tuning control so the red pointer is directly over the 550 kHz legend.
•
Loosen the set screw on the coupling shaft to tuning capacitor C3.
•
Carefully push the movable plates into the closed position.
•
Tighten the shaft set screw.
•
Check to make sure that when the tuning control reads 1650 kHz the tuning capacitor is
fully open.
•
Tighten both set screws on the shaft.
– Cut a 12-inch piece of 3-conductor shielded cable. Strip each end and prepare the leads.
Cut two 3/4-inch long pieces of heat-shrink tubing and place on each end of the cable.
Process with the heat gun. This cable will be used to connect the back panel AM tuner
input terminals to the AM tuner PWB.
– Use one end of the shielded cable to make the following connections on the AM tuner
PWB:
•
Black to
Loop Ant. Low
. Solder.
•
White to
Loop Ant. Hi
. Solder.
•
Red to
Hi-Z
. Solder.
•
Shield to
GND
. Solder.
– Examine the back panel pinout legend for the AM tuner input barrier strip. Connect the
wires from the cable as follows to the barrier strip:
•
Red to
Hi-Z
. Solder.
•
White to
Loop
. Solder.
•
Black to
GND
. Do not solder.
•
Clip off the shield drain wire; it is not used on this end.
– Prepare a 3-inch #22 black wire. Connect one end to the
GND
terminal on the back panel
AM tuner input barrier strip. Solder (2 wires).
– Connect the free end of the 3-inch black wire to the ground lug on the barrier strip
mounting screw. Do not solder.
