– Connect the scope and voltmeter leads to the Left Channel output jack. Set the voltmeter
on the 10 V range.
– Set both Output Level controls fully clockwise.
– Switch the tuner power on.
– With the Channel Separation control in the maximum counterclockwise position, there
should be no output (voltmeter on the 10 V range).
– With the Channel Separation control in the maximum clockwise position, the voltmeter
should read between 4 and 8 V rms and the scope should show a clean sine wave.
– Remove the scope and voltmeter leads from the Left Channel output jack and connect
them to the Right Channel output jack.
– Repeat the previous steps to check the right channel output.
– Remove the scope and voltmeter from the Right Channel output jack.
– Switch the power off. Remove all test leads from the tuner.
– Set the Channel Separation control to center of travel.
– Connect an antenna (dipole or wire antenna) to the FM input terminals on the back panel.
Connect an amplifier to the left and right output RCA jacks on the back panel. Set the font
panel Output switch to FM Stereo. Tune in a strong local station.
– Adjust R104 (AGC Display Set) so that the tuning eye is closed, or nearly so. If a
sufficiently strong signal cannot be received, simply set R104 fully clockwise.
– Adjust the Channel Separation control (R86) for best reproduced quality of stereo
programming in the left and right channel speakers.
– Connect an audio voltmeter to the right channel RCA output jack. Set the voltmeter
sensitivity to read –10 dBm. Adjust R99 (Right Channel Output) on the rear upper chassis
to produce a reading of approximately –10 dBm on normal program material. (Note that
R99 is accessible from the top of the chassis.)
– Change the front panel Output switch to FM. Adjust R71 (Mono Output Level) to match
the –10 dBm level on normal program material.
