Wesmar's SS590’s are Scanning Sonar, meaning that the
soundwave is sent out in the form of a cone-shaped beam.
The sonar operator may move this beam around as be
chooses, to locate either underwater dangers such as
rocks and wrecks, or to locate fish schools. Searching
underwater with a Scanning Sonar is exactly like standing
in a field at night with a flashlight. You turn on the
flashlight and swing it around you to find out what is
in the field. When the light beam falls on a rock, you can
see the rock easily because it is bright and reflects the
light, but when the beam falls on a bush, that is not so
easy to see because the bush does not reflect the light as
much. Fish are very much like bushes, they do not
always reflect well and so can be difficult to find. This
is why you need to practice with your sonar, to learn
bow to see and recognize fish.
PART C: UNPACKING AND
INSPECTION
The Wesmar sonar should be carefully unpacked and
examined for any damage that may have resulted from
shipping. Report any damage promptly to the carrier and
save the packing materials until you are certain that the
unit is intact. I f a unit must be returned to Wesmar,
the same packing materials should be used.
Please take note of any brightly colored tags that may be
attached to the equipment:
