PART D: RAM HOIST

INSTALLATION

The Ram Hoist is available only with 8-inch

soundomes. Part D applies only to the

SS590-

8.

The ram hoist is placed in the "Down"

po

sition when shipped. Keep this in mind

during the installation procedure.

1.0 SOUNDOME TUBE LENGTH

To determine the minimum length of a soun-

dome tube, measure the length of the seachest
and add 59cm (22 inches).

Allow at least 10.2cm (4 inches) of clearance
between the soundome tube and the ceiling
when the soundome is in the raised position.

When the proper length of soundome tube is

determined, measure from the threaded end,
cut, and file the rough edges off.

If overhead clearance is adequate, the ex-

tra length of soundome tube may be left
uncut.

2.0

ATTACHING SOUNDOME
TUBE TO SOUNDOME

Place the jam nut on the soundome tube.

Run the soundome cable through the soundome
tube, starting at the threaded end.

Screw the soundome tube into the top of the
soundome assembly until it fits snugly. Avoid
cross threading.

Tighten the jam nut until it also fits snugly.

WARNING: Screwing the tube down too tightly

can damage the soundome and/or jam nut.

The 8-inch soundome has an AFT arrow molded
into the top beveled portion of the soundome.

Special Note;

DO NOT USE A BONDING COMPOUND ON
THE THREADS OF THE SOUNDOME TUBE
AND BELL (chemicals might weaken the neck
of the soundome). Wrap with teflon tape
to prevent leakage or "Permatex Pipe
Joint Compound" Part No. 51D.
