PART A:   CALIBRATION

All SS590 sonar  are calibrated at WESMAR

before shipping. However, WESMAR does
recommend

adjusting the sonar after

installation. There are three adjustments
(transmitter, pre-amp, and receiver) that can
ensure maximum performance. Before
proceeding with the following  adjustments set
NOISE FILTER to "No".

1.0

TRANSMITTER

ADJUSTMENT

The transmitter can be adjusted without the

use of an oscilloscope.

First locate a solid target around 100-200m
(300-600 feet) away.

Set the sonar to scan the smallest sector and

adjust the tilt and scan position for the best
target presentation on the display.

Adjust Near and Far Gain up or down until the
target is of any color other than red.

Use a tuning instrument to turn T2.

When the target turns red, stop and re-adjust
Near and Far Gain so that the target is again
not red.

Turn T2 until the target is red, adjust Near
and Far Gain until it is not. Continue the
process until a very slight turn of T2 moves
the target into and out of the red color.

Try to go through red in as small a turn as
possible.

At that point, adjust T2 so that the target is
red, and then leave it.

This process will match the transmitter
frequency to the frequency of the

soundome.
