Flushing Cooling System

Before filling, flush out the system thor-
oughly with clean water. Before flushing
out the radiator, remove the lower radiator
hose to allow a quicker and more efficient
draining.

When flushing the radiator, keep the water
pressure low so the radiator tubes are not
damaged.

Filling Cooling System

Always use a pre-mixed solution of 50/50
clean water and antifreeze. Do not fill sys-
tem with water and then add antifreeze. A
mixture with less than 35% antifreeze does
not give adequate corrosion protection.
Concentrations of antifreeze above 60%
does not give added freeze protection. The
system is self-venting.

Fill the system with clean coolant
through the fill neck in the middle of
the surge tank. The fill rate is not to
exceed 2 gpm (8 L/minute). The en-
gine should not be running and the
heater control should be on WARM.

Fill up to the top of the surge tank.

3

Check the level after running the en-
gine at high idle for approximately
five minutes. Add coolant as required.
