XX091-04-01 Rev 104 AurorAcorD
Using Passwords
Using passwords allows you to restrict use of the AurorAcorD in the following ways:
•
by limiting access to menus and operation screens with the Menu/Setup password
•
by locking out all front panel keystrokes with the FPanel “Front Panel” password.
The Front Panel password is typically used for operators while the Menu/Setup Password is for supervisors.
You may enter either the Front Panel Password or the Menu/Setup Password to unlock the front panel keys.
Note: The Macro Selection screen is available by pressing the
MACRO
key, even if the operator does not know
the Menu/Setup password. From the Macro Selection screen, the operator may run any macro, even
the Vicon default macros that allow quick access to search screens (although the rest of the menu
system is still unavailable). An operator that does not know the Front Panel password cannot use any
front panel key, including the
MACRO
key.
Are passwords set at the factory?
No. When you boot for the first time, there are no passwords enabled. You do not need to enter a password
to use menus or front panel keys until after you define them, as discussed in the next section.

4. Select Change Menu/Setup Password and repeat the last two steps to define the Menu/Setup Password.
5. Although passwords were defined in the previous steps, they will not be required until you enable them as
described in this step. Set the FPanel Password setting to Enabled if you want the AurorAcorD’s front
panel keys to be inoperable until the Front Panel password or the Menu/Setup Password (if enabled and
defined) is entered. Set the Menu/Setup Password setting to Enabled to require that a password be
entered before menus and operation screens (such as Alarm Setup) can be accessed.
6. The FP Control Timeout setting is used to control how much time must elapse without a keystroke being
entered before the Front Panel Password must be re-entered. Define the time (in seconds) if you enabled
and defined a Front Panel Password.
