Backup Mode & DMX input/output settings
Backup
The UDMR features an automatic Backup Mode function
which automatically switches to the unit's phrase playback in
the event that the DMX signal from an external device is cut
off.
You can also switch to Backup Mode manually by connecting
a switch to the '8 CHANGE' control input terminal located on
the right control terminal block.
If a problem occurs with the main lighting controller during
time-code synchronization with the UDMR, the unit instantly
switches to Backup Mode so that you can continue the show
or stage performance without any interruption to the lighting
choreography.
Connecting external devices
When using a sync signal to enhance synchronization
accuracy, use the same time code for the lighting controller
and the UDMR to allow smooth changeover to Backup Mode.
Refer to 'Settings for using sync signals' on page 83 for details
on the different settings when using signals.
In Backup Mode when DMX
signals from an external lighting
controller are output with
modification, the UDMR's DMX
indicator light comes on. Once
Backup Mode starts operating,
the DMX indicator light flashes.

DMX output settings
1. Press the MODE button.
The MODE indicator light comes on.
2. Turn the SELECT dial to '9.1 DMX OUTPUT' then
press the SELECT dial.
3. Use the SELECT dial to choose 'BACKUP' then
press the SELECT dial.
4. The confirmation screen is displayed. Press the
ENTER button to execute the operation.
To cancel the operation, turn the SELECT dial to
'CANCEL' then press the ENTER button.
Once the setting is complete, the display returns to the
settings selection screen.
5. Press the MODE button.
The setting is completed and the display returns to the
default screen.
Pressing the MODE button mid-setting displays a confirmation
screen asking you whether or not to cancel the setting. Please
note that selecting 'YES' and pressing the ENTER button
returns you to the default screen and cancels all settings made
up to that point.
