7. Special
and Trick Recording
The following recording functions
be accomplished in both
and
Operation.
7.1 Mono Recording with Echo Effects
Reverb and echo
can also be
with the SG 561. By
changing the tape speed, it is possible to go
the reverb
to
echo trick recording.
Recommended tape speeds for the following effects:
cm/s reverb effect
9.5cm/s echo
echo with greater reverberation
cm/s echo trick effect
for echo recording:
Select appropriate tape speed for desired effect.
2. Connect
described in secs. 2.1, 2.3 or 2.4. When
recording from microphone(s), press MICRO Switch
3. Depending on the track to be
for the recording, set the
Mode Selector ® to ECHO 1 (to record on track 1 or track 4) or
to
2 (to record on track 2 or track 3). During dual-track Op-
eration the Mode Selector ©
always be in ECHO 1 position.
4. Use Level Control MICRO/RADIO @ to adjust to proper record
described in sec. 5) and the MULTIPLAY/ECHO Control ®
to
the
of the effect (reverb or echo).
5. For best monitoring of echo recordings use UHER Headphones
W 775, inserting the
into the Headphones socket so that the
Speakers of the SG 561 are
off (see sec. 2.2). The
MONITOR pushbutton switch should be in TAPE position.
6. Playback Operation is the
for normal recordings. The Mode
may either be in ECHO position or be set to the track
of the echo recording.

7.2 Stereo Recording with Echo Effects
Echo recording in the stero
is best accomplished with the aid of
UHER Monitoring Lead K 563.
Procedure:
1. Set Mode
in STEREO Position.
2. Switch the tape machine to the record function.
3. Connect Monitor Lead K 563 from
socket (6-pin plug)
to
socket (5-pin plug).
4. Feed in the input signal to
the echo effect is to be added
either
the
socket or (with the MICRO Switch © in
down-position) through the
socket and adjust the record level
with MICRO/RADIO controls (2) and © . The MONITOR
remain in up-position. To regulate the strength of the echo
Signal, use PHONO controls © and © .
5.
the
socket is used to record the original Signal, the monitoring
(K 563) may then be connected to the
socket, in which
case the PHONO controls © and (5) should be used to regulate
the record level of the original signal and the MICRO/RADIO con-
trols @ and (D for the strength of the echo signal.
7.3
In sound-on-sound recording one track is played
simultaneously
a recording is being made on the corresponding parallel track. An array
of trick effects may be achieved with this technique. For example, one
can sing a duet
oneself. Fig. 10
how the tech-
nique works.
