4. What are normal blood pressure values?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has compiled
the following overview for the arrangement of the
blood pressure values:
*mmHg = Millimeters of Mercury
** It is sufficient if one of the values is increased
One-time and irregular measurements therefore give
no real indication of the actual blood pressure.
A reliable evaluation is possible only if single
measurements are carried out regularly. Review the
measured values with your doctor.
Normal value:
Systolic pressure
up to 119 mmHg*
Diastolic pressure
up to 79 mmHg
Limit value:
Systolic pressure
120-139 mmHg
Diastolic pressure
80-89 mmHg
High pressure:
Systolic pressure
more than
140 mmHg
and/or **
diastolic pressure
more than 90 mmHg
