(a) Remove any o i l packing material and be careful not to
drop any oil on the contacting surfaces of the oil pan

•
Using
a
ra zor blade and gasket scra per. remove all
the old packing IFIPG) material from the gasket
surfaces and sealing groove.
•
Thoroughly clean all components to remove all the
loose material.
•
Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue
solvent.
CAUTION : Do not use a solvent which will affect the
p a i n ted surraces.
(b) Apply seal packing to the oil pan as shown in the
figure

Install a nozzle that has been cut

NOTE: Avoid applying a n excess amount to the surface.
Be especially careful near oil passages.
•
Paris must be assembled within
15
minutes of
application. Otherwise. the m a terial must be
removed a n d reapplied
•
Immediately remove nozzle from tube a n d reinstall
cap.
(c) Install t he o i l pan wilh the twenty-eig h t and twa nuts.
Torque: 1 30

I NSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR
(a) Align the
set key
with t h e key groove o f the timing
gear.
(b) Using a plastic- faced hammer. tap in the timing gear.

Apply

light coat of engine oil o n t h e t h reads and
under
the
boll head.
(d) USing SST. install the plate washer and mount b o l l .
