3.21 Head Cleaning

3.21.1

Function Description

This function cleans the heads in the FDD by executing a series of head load/seek and read
operations. A cleaning kit is necessary to perform this program.

3.21.2

Operations

1.

Selecting

from the DIAGNOSTIC menu and pressing

Enter

displays the follow-

ing messages:

DIAGNOSTICS - FLOPPY DISK HEAD CLEANING : VX.XX

Mount cleaning disk(s) on drive(s).

Press any key when ready.

2.

Remove the Diagnostics Disk from the FDD, insert the cleaning disk, and press

Enter

.

3.

When the "cleaning start" message displays, the FDD head cleaning has begun.

4.

The display automatically returns to the DIAGNOSTIC menu when the program
completes.
