4.3.1
DN611 operation modes
The DN611 has the following operation modes:
(1) Initialize mode
• The DN611 is in the process of resetting after power is turned on or reset is
requested.
• The DN611 is set in standby mode when the reset processing is completed nor-
mally.
• The DN611 is set in down mode when the reset processing fails to be completed
normally (e.g. when an error occurs in a self-test).
• Don't issue instructions from the S controller user program during initialize mode.
(2) Standby mode
• The DN611 is set in this mode when the reset processing is completed normally
after power is turned on or reset is requested.
• An operation mode control request can changes run mode to standby mode.
• Only this mode allows you to set the parameters of the local node and slave
devices in the DN611.
• Unless the parameters of the local node are set, no change can be made from
standby mode to run mode.
(3) Run mode
• After the parameters of the local node are set, the DN611 can be set in run mode
by an operation mode control request.
• This mode allows the DN611 to transmit to salve devices.
• This mode allows you to select polling mode or bit strobe mode for transmission to
slave devices.
• This mode allows you to select synchronous mode or asynchronous mode for
transfer between the S controller and the DN611.
(4) Down mode
• Indicates that the DN611 is in an irrecoverable abnormal state.
• A reset request can change it to standby mode. If a reset request results in an
error response, reset the DN611 by turning power off and back on.
• See Table 4-4 Down Information for the possible causes of down mode.
Figure 4-17 shows how the DN611 changes from one operation mode to another. The
boxes indicate the operation modes of the DN611. The operation modes in the boxes of
thick lines can be controlled by the user program. The thick arrows indicate the requests
that the user program can specify.

Caution
1. If the S controller falls in HALT/ERROR mode, the DN611 in run mode is set in standby mode.
