model 2000 DeviceNet Module Manual (DN611/DN611A)
Chapter 1 Overview of the Devicenet Module

1.5.2
Number of mounting modules
This section describes the number of DN611s that can be mounted in the S controller and
the instruction execution time in accessing the DN611 from the S controller.
(1) Number of DN611s that can be mounted
The number of DN611s that can be mounted is to be determined by
(a) the power capacity of the power module of the model 2000 and the overall
current consumption of the S controller and
(b) limitations on installing D611s in the base unit and extension unit.
Station module (Only one station module mounted)
• Number of main base unit (BU648E) to mount:
From the power capacity, (5000 - 1200 - 150)
÷
500 = 7.3. That is, 8 units can be
mounted. However, the limitations on installing BU648E reduces the number to 4
maximum.
• Number of extension base units (BU668) to mount:
From the power capacity, (5000 - 500)
÷
500 = 9. That is, 9 units can be mounted.
However, the limitations on installing BU668 (as extension base units) reduces the
number to 8 maximum.
The maximum configuration of the model 2000 using a station module includes one main
base unit and 3 extension base units. Therefore, the number of DN611s that can be
mounted is 28.
Stand alone module
• Number of main base unit (BU668) to mount:
From the power capacity, (5000 - 1000 - 150)
÷
500 = 7.7. That is, 7 units can be
mounted. Although the upper limit on the number of BU668 (as main base units) that
can be mounted is 8, the maximum is 7 units.
• Number of extension base unit (BU668) to mount:
From the power capacity, (5000 - 500)
÷
500 = 9. That is, 9 units can be mounted.
However, the limitations on installing BU668 (as extension base units) reduces the
number to 8 maximum.
The maximum configuration of the model 2000 using a stand alone module includes one
main base unit and 3 extension base units. Therefore, the number of DN611s that can
be mounted is 32.
The number of DN611s that can be mounted in an actual system varies depending on the
number of other modules than the DN611 to be used in the system.
