waste but instead separately in an environmentally sustainable manner. It is also pos-
sible that national legislation in your country requires this. For this reason, please check
your local regulations and ensure that you dispose of the system in accordance with the
statutory provisions.
10.2 Disposing of batteries
Please remove used batteries immediately and follow the special instructions for dispo-
sing of batteries and battery systems listed below:
For customers in EU countries
Batteries and rechargeable batteries are subject to European
Community Directive 2006/66/EC on (waste) batteries and (waste)
rechargeable batteries and to corresponding national legislation.
The Battery Directive defines the basis for how batteries and rechargeab-
le batteries are to be handled throughout the EU.
Our batteries and rechargeable batteries bear the symbol of a crossed
out wheeled bin pictured on the left. There may be letters below the symbol indicating
the harmful substances they contain, i.e. “Pb” for lead, “Cd” for cadmium and “Hg” for
mercury.
Waste batteries and waste rechargeable batteries may not be disposed of with normal re-
sidual waste because substances with harmful effects on the health of humans, animals
and plants may be released into the environment and accumulate in the food chain. At
the same time, valuable raw materials are lost.
For this reason, please dispose of waste batteries and waste rechargeable batteries via
collection points specially set up for the purpose, via your dealer or via us; this service is
free of charge.
For customers outside the EU

It is also possible that national legislation in your country requires this. For this reason,
please check your local regulations and ensure that you dispose of the system in accor-
dance with the statutory provisions.
